They’d probably go well on my ‘71 GMC van, but not at that price...

they get a lot of attention??? What the... who looks at those? There is no.... there is nothing to look at. just a slab of metal.

Drop a zero off of that and I’d consider them.

Gotta love Craigslisters... “Super rare awesome vintage amazeballs wheels! They’ve been rotting in my back yard for 25 years and desperately need to be polished, but I’m not going to raise a finger to polish them or even wash them off in my pursuit for ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!”

Cast quasi-Centerlines are available through Summit and others. Brand names ION and a couple of others. They don’t come with a compatible baby moon, though.

if the tires are new and not just ‘not used’ then maybe ok price. Tires witth deteriorate with age, but if the rubber is in good condition you are not just paying $1400 for wheels, you are getting tires too. I mean even at $200/tire thats $800 which means you are only paying $600 for the wheels themselves.

That’s sort of how I felt, reading the post. The going CL rate for a set of 5-on-4.75 rollers with tires that hold air is $150, at least in my area. Hard to get more than $40 for a used tire of any size or condition.

So that means these rims better be made of platinum.

Sort of my question, implicit in the NPoCP post. Are these some kind of Holy Grail wheels? Not that anyone here has so far claimed...

$1,400 is approaching Halibrand money in the world of vintage wheels. Centerline wheels aren’t quite as rare and sought-after.

Yeah. They can be the wheels Jesus used to drive to Nazareth. Handed them down to Pope and he used them on the pope mobile still wouldn’t care.

I think he is a good... umm... bullshit artist advertising them as if people want to yank those off his van.... but you can’t convince me to take them for free.

Sorry. Don’t mean to rag on them if you actually like them. If you like them, get them. I just don’t buy the whole - they get a lot of attention bit.

Ok, I’m probably being ignorant here, but to me, this is a Centerline. And I’m not sure why he doesn’t polish those up himself?

Those wheels are completely unfamiliar to me, and when I Googled ‘Centerline Wheels’, I didn’t see those.

Finally, imma need to see the DOT date stamp on those tires. The tread looks, ummm, shiny.

Kinda cool, in a way, but seems like a big CP to me?

Not a all. I think the guy has an unrealistic appraisal of his wheels.

Like I said to Tristan, above: base price on CL in the Bay Area for a set of rollers that hold air is $150. It’s hard to get more than $40 for a used tire of any description. I think he’s on the order of a thousand dollars too high. If the tires were manufactured less than ten years ago, then $400 might be a good price, unless they are something particularly rare, which it sounds like they are not. And the Popemobile probably has run-flats...

Precisely my reaction. If the tires are less than ten years old, I could see that set of wheels fetching maybe $400.

I rather like them and they’d fit on my van, but I couldn’t see paying more than $400 and then only if the tires are less than 10 years old. If they’d been polished up and restored, then I could see maybe paying $600, but then only if the tires are serviceable.
